Elizabeth Obermueller is Awarded a Golden Apple

Elizabeth Obermueller has dedicated 26 of her 31 years of teaching to St. John Lutheran School in Seward.

Makenna Volzke was so impressed with Mrs. O's dedication that she decided to write a nomination letter that led to a very surprising and overwhelming school assembly.

Principal David Koopman led the assembly, "It's a great day for all of us here at St. John. We are pleased to have you here to honor a teacher. Mrs. Obermueller would you please come down."

The student who wrote the recommendation for her favorite language arts teacher was Makenna Volzke, "She definitely enjoys being a teacher and makes it fun to be in her class."

Mrs. O was overwhelmed with her honor, "God has richly blessed me in all that I've done. And all I can say is thank you, first to Him and to all of you because daily you help me remember who I am and who's I am. Thank you."

Makenna finished her nomination with this, "It will be sad to see her go, but I feel lucky that I got to have her for my last year at St. John. She has some big shoes to fill."
