When Sheila Cordry moved back to Nebraska 6 years ago, she had job offers in three different towns. For some reason, she feels that she was meant to be in Wymore.
And she's not alone, there are many students at southern high school that are glad she's there. At the top of that list is the student that nominated her ...Justin Dean. The graduating senior read from his nomination letter, "I have chosen Mrs. Cordry for this reward because I feel that she deserves it the most."
Mrs. Cordry has a hard time determining which aspect of teaching she enjoys the most, "There's a lot of aspects I enjoy. First of all, I love English and I love speech and drama. But I love probably most of all my kids. They're just very rewarding."
For this 9-year teaching veteran and Beatrice native, receiving a Golden Apple award is a moving experience, "It's pretty special. Because I hope that I teach my kids not just classroom skills, that will carry them through life, but I hope that I teach them outside skills that will carry them through."
