Nebraska Children’s Home Society’s Positive Alternatives Receives Award
Omaha, Neb.
The Nebraska Children’s Home Society’s Positive Alternatives was recently selected and awarded a $250,000 contract from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. This contract provides services and support for pregnant and parenting teens and women.

The Nebraska Children’s Home Society’s Positive Alternatives in Omaha, Nebraska was recently selected and awarded a $250,000 contract from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

Positive Alternatives provides a 24/7 confidential toll-free phone line staffed by a master’s level professional. Personalized care coordination is provided by NCHS to clients, which includes referring clients to needed resources. These resources may include free pregnancy testing, STD testing, parenting and adoption information and classes, counseling, maternity and infant clothing and baby equipment.

“This program provides support and needed services for pregnant and parenting teens and women,” said Dr. Joann Schaefer, the state’s Chief Medical Officer. “It offers moms and babies the opportunity to lead healthy lives.”

The Nebraska Children’s Home Society’s Positive Alternatives provides many unique statewide services for Nebraska women who are pregnant or believe they are pregnant. These services will be provided using all 11 of the NCHS agency locations, which are strategically located throughout the state for comprehensive coverage, including in rural areas.
