10/11 Anchor & Producer Abby Turpin brought a musical background with her into the broadcasting business years ago, and now she is sharing those talents with her new Nebraska community.
Abby's husband, Travis, is a Lincoln native and they were married in Lincoln on October 6, 2012, so they are thrilled to now be in a city with so much of their family.
Raised in Grove City, Ohio, Abby went to Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee where she graduated cum laude. She spent many years traveling around the world, working in the music business. She worked for Tokyo Disney, on cruise ships, in regional theatre, and off-Broadway before heading into the broadcasting business at a Gray Broadcasting station in Texas. She was a morning anchor at KXII in Sherman, Texas, then went to the NBC station in Toledo, Ohio, and now says she is excited to be in Lincoln and back with a Gray Broadcasting station. Abby says she and her husband plan to make their home here for a very long time.
Given that, it is important to Abby to get involved in the music community, and she is doing so by starring in Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific this coming weekend. Abby will play the role of Nellie Forbush, opposite Lincoln stage veteran David Claus. The production is a special musical concert collaboration with TADA Productions & The Lincoln Choral Artists.
Shows are Friday, October 11, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at O'Donnell Auditorium on the Nebraska Wesleyan Campus.
Tickets are just $20 and can be reserved at www.tadaproductions.info or you can call 402-438-TADA. Tickets will also be available at the door.
Abby's 10/11 Family is excited to see Abby in this capacity and hope you will be, too.
