#3 Taylor Martinez of Corona, California ran for 127 yards and three touchdowns and passed for 136 yards in a sensational debut that led No. 8 Nebraska to a 49-10 win over Western Kentucky on Saturday night.
The only redshirt or true freshman quarterback to start a season opener for Nebraska, Martinez became the first Husker signal-caller
since 2003 to run for more than 100 yards in a game.
Martinez led Nebraska to touchdowns on his first two series and on four of his eight. Cody Green led scoring drives on his two
series. Zac Lee, the 2009 starter, didn't enter until the middle of
the fourth quarter.
Western Kentucky's Bobby Rainey rushed 30 times for a career-high 155 yards and a TD against a defense that was ninth nationally against the run last season.

Taylor Martinez is a very impressive young quarterback.I think coach Pelini made the perfect choice.Nebraska is very lucky to have 3 great quarterbacks,as a quarterback always gets injured,Zac Lee,please don't take it personally I'm sure coach Pelini just wants to give you more time to heal from your surgery.Way to go to all 3 quarterbacks.
WOW!! I'm impressed, they did against a High School team. What happens when they play a real football team.
Zac Lee is a horrible quarterback. I think he was shown his place tonight. Give the ball to Taylor or Cody any day. Zac plays with no confidence.
And Taylor Martinez is going to be a crowd favorite, although Cody Green is well loved and of course who doesn't like Zach Lee. Huskers rock.
