Plane Crash Kills Three

Three are dead after a plane crashes into a broadcast tower near Holdrege.

Three people died Sunday morning when a single-engine airplane crashed into a broadcast tower southwest of Holdrege Nebraska.

According to the Nebraska State Patrol, The family was headed back to Illinois from Colorado when the 1968 Piper 140 airplane collided with the tower at about 10:45 am.

Both adults and the child inside the plane were dead when emergency crews arrived.

The tower landed on the broadcast building that houses equipment for the tower causing structural damage to the roof.

The federal aviation administration will be investigating the crash in the near future.

Authorities have not released the victims' identities pending notification of family.

The 1,065 foot-high tower serviced NET Television and Radio as well as the National Weather Service and the local Emergency Management System Service.
