The remaining portion of a videotaped deposition by Erick Vela's sister will be heard in Madison County District Court on March 29.
It's one of the final pieces of testimony in the mental competency hearing of the convicted Norfolk bank murderer.
The hearing to determine whether Vela is mentally retarded and, thus, ineligible for the death penalty, resumed Friday with the playing of Leticia Hernandez's videotaped deposition.
Madison County Deputy Attorney Gail Collins pointed out several instances where Hernandez's testimony contradicted that of her father Esteban Vela.
The elder Vela said Erick was tying his own shoes by age eight. Hernandez said she was the one still tying his shoes at 12.
Velas father testified that he walked Erick to school by the hand up to the second grade. Hernandez said he would be walked in that manner up to fifth grade.
