Sunday’s Gun Amnesty Day proved to be a success with both guns and ammunition turned over to Lincoln Police and NeighborWorks personnel. Police were able to obtain 27 guns, 4100 rounds of ammunition, 20 pounds of gun powder, and 1 20 mm round.
The purpose of the event was to provide citizens the opportunity to drop off unwanted firearms and ammunition. The goal is to remove unwanted firearms and ammunition from circulation. This effort is completely anonymous, no questions asked.
Police were on hand to take possession of any unwanted, legal or illegal, firearms and ammunition.
