A winter storm system that dumped a foot of snow in extreme northern panhandle of Nebraska also blanketed other areas of the state.
National Weather Service meteorologist Kenny Roberg says 6 inches of snow was reported just north of Gordon and 5 inches in Merriman -- a few miles south of the South Dakota border.
Most areas reported no more than a couple inches of snow.
The brunt of the storm struck western South Dakota, where more than 3 feet of snow fell in Lead and Deadwood, and wind gusts of 60 miles-per-hour created blizzard conditions.
Roberg says another, weaker storm system is expected to reach Nebraska Sunday night, bringing a chance of snow and more wind.
Utility companies are still struggling to restore power in areas.
