Low temperatures have hit the double digits below zero as an arctic low gripped Nebraska.
The National Weather Service issued wind chill warnings or advisories for most of the state Monday Morning. By afternoon, only a windchill advisory for northeast Nebraska remained in effect.
The temperatures Monday morning ranged from minus 17 at Alliance in Nebraska's Panhandle to minus 4 in Omaha on the state's eastern edge.
Elsewhere in western Nebraska, Chadron, Ogallala, Sidney and Thedford all reported morning temperatures of 15 below zero.
At minus 9 in Norfolk, the 16 mph wind made it feel like 32 below.
School delays were common Monday morning as districts and families worried about children standing at bus stops.
