Dawson Public Power District is raising rates to all customers, starting in January.
The utility says the average increase will be 9.6 percent. Under the rate hike, residential customers will pay $9 to $14 more a month.
Dawson PPD says rising fuel and operating costs are forcing the increase.
The utility is also planning to build a transmission line between Elwood and Eustis in 2009 to improve service. A new substation for Eustis is also in the works.
Dawson PPD provides power to south-central Nebraska.
