Nebraska Plants Among Those Whose Meat is Banned by Mexico
Mexico is suspending meat imports from 30 processing plants in 14 states, including three plants in Nebraska.

Mexico is suspending meat imports from 30 processing plants in 14 states, including three plants in Nebraska.
The Nebraska plants are Farmland Foods in Crete, Tyson in Omaha and Quality Pork International in Omaha.
According to published reports, the suspensions may be in retaliation for the U.S. putting a country-of-origin labeling law into effect on Oct. 1 in response to concerns the safety of imports.
On Dec. 18, Mexico joined Canada in opposing the new law, which involves fresh beef and pork, in a complaint to the World Trade Organization.

Hmmm...they come here illegally to work at the meat packing plants and then they don't want the meat?

The United States is absolutely correct in my opinion to require a country of origin label on food products since different nations maintain different processing standards. Citizens of our nation did not have an opportunity to vote directly on trading agreement content, and a label is essential to inform consumers.
