A State Patrol investigator is headed to Illinois to interview a man called a "person of interest" in the death of a 51-year-old Syracuse woman.
Patrol spokesman Mike Meyer said Sunday the investigator would talk with 44-year-old Ronald Smith, who staged a standoff with police at a Motel 6 on Saturday.
Collinsville, Ill., assistant police chief Dave Schneider said Smith had called police and said he'd killed someone in Nebraska and wanted to surrender.
But Schneider says by the time officers arrived at the motel, Smith had changed his mind.
Smith was taken into custody four hours later.
Earlier Saturday, Meyer had said an autopsy on Terri Harris indicated no foul play.
She was found dead in her home Thursday.
