The Red Cross continued to help victims of a Friday night fire Saturday.
Firefighters were called to 1524 Coventry Lane at around 4:30 Friday afternoon.
According to fire officials, the blaze was initially thought to be contained to apartment #64 at Normandy Apartments.
However, it was later found that the fire had spread into the walls and floors.
Most firefighters left the scene by 10:30 p.m., but three stayed at the apartments through the night.
Forty-five Grand Island firefighters were called to the scene.
They were assisted by the Grand Island Rural Fire Department, Alda Volunteer Fire Department, and Wood River Volunteer Fire Department.
Fire officials say an initial investigation found a faulty furnace pipe between the middle and top floors of the building is to blame for the fire.
The Red Cross opened a shelter Friday evening, and assisted 15 fire victims.
The shelter was closed Saturday morning after other accommodations were made for the building's residents.
