Nearly three dozen people in the Beatrice area likely are looking for new jobs this week after losing their old ones at a vehicle drivetrain manufacturer.
The Neapco plant eliminated 33 jobs last week, and plant manager Duane Culver blamed the "soft business environment."
Before the cuts, Neapco had about 170 employees at its Beatrice plant, which has been operating for 28 years.
Neapco is based in Pottstown, Pa. The company Web site says Neapco also has operations in California and in Mexico and Canada.
Culver says Neapco is working with local agencies to help the laid-off workers find new jobs.
