LINCOLN, Neb. 4-year-old Brecken Wingate was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia one year ago.
His mother, Autumn Wingate says the last 365 days haven’t been easy.
“He was diagnosed exactly a year ago,” said Autumn. “And he got way sicker than he should have gotten and we spent a lot of time at Children's Hospital in Omaha and he almost didn't pull through.”
But Saturday, Autumn, and the boys father Colton, were thankful. Not only is Brecken doing much better, but the Make-A-Wish Foundation made his dreams come true.
"It's really a blessing,” said Autumn.
Brecken’s parents say he loves Shrek, and that when Make-A-Wish asked him what he wanted he said he wished to meet the big green ogre.
"Because he's my favorite guy," said Brecken.
Thankfully for Colton Shrek the Musical is playing at the Pinewood Bowl and that was delightfully and surprisingly arranged.
But the surprise didn’t end there. Shrek had tickets for Brecken and his parents to go to Disney World in Orlando Florida. Brecken didn’t say much, but his smile said thank you.
