"When the sirens sound, you better listen."
That's what Randy Knudson of Bennet has to say after a storms swept through his property on 148th Street, near Highway 2, shortly after 5 p.m., Monday.
Knudson and his son Adam were outside watching the storm when they noticed the wind and rain quickly picking up and decided they better head into the house and down to the basement.
Knudson says the power went out while they listened to weather updates on the television and soon they heard the storm rushing by.
Knudson says the furry was over in about 10 minutes. When he and his son went back upstairs to look outside, he found his yard destroyed. A huge tree cracked in half and landed just inches from his house, a large camper trailer in his back yard rested on it's side on top of car, and the storm ripped apart the fencing that kept Knudson's horses in.
He said it's the third time in five years that storms he describes as tornadoes, have torn through his land. Just last year, the same area was hit.
Norris Talcott says the area is his own "tornado alley". Talcott owns the property next to Knudson's and lives about 3/4 of a mile from the land.
He was coming off the field in his tractor when he he says he saw "a tornado wrapped in rain and dust" headed in his direction. He says he rushed back to the house to get his family in the basement and before he knew it, the storm had passed.
When he came to check on his buildings located South of Hwy. 2 on 148th street, he found the tornado destroyed two pole sheds and a grain bin. The pieces were scattered among remnants of last year's storm.
Both Knudson and Talcott say they're thankful they didn't lose more.
John Widick with Bennet Volunteer Fire and Rescue said they didn't have any reported injuries from the storm.
Crews with the National Weather Service will be surveying storm damage across the state Tuesday to determine whether tornadoes touched down.
