A 29-year-old Bloomfield, Nebraska man has been arrested on a charge of Felony Sexual Assault of a Child.

On Friday morning, April 10th, 2009, investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol Troop B Headquarters in Norfolk received information of a possible sexual assault of a 14-year-old female by a 29-year-old male.

The male was identified as John Hoffman of Bloomfield, Nebraska. A search warrant was obtained for Hoffman’s residence at 411 East Main Street in Bloomfield. At the home, investigators seized evidence consistent with statements given by the victim.

On Friday evening, April 10th, 2009, Hoffman was taken into custody and lodged in the Knox County Jail on a charge of Third Degree Sexual Assault of a Child.

Hoffman is listed as a math teacher at Bloomfield Community Schools' junior-senior high. Bloomfield Principal Kim Lingenfelter says a substitute teacher is filling in for Hoffman this week.

She declined to comment on whether Hoffman is still employed at the school or whether he has been placed on leave.
