According to Greg Topil, City of Lincoln's Traffic and Events Coordinator, 27th Street from Vine to Y Streets will close Wednesday April 22nd at 10 p.m. until about 6 a.m. Thursday.
The closure will allow crews to complete a steel truss bridge that crosses over 27th street.
Topil says at around 10 p.m. Wednesday, a concrete truck will be positioned in the middle of the road to pour concrete over the metal framework of the bridge.
Topil says the detour route will be from Vine Street to North 33rd and back to Holdrege Street.
The bridge is part of the Mopac Trail Pedestrian Bridge Project which is scheduled to be completed by the end of May. The total estimated cost of the overpass is about $1.9-million.
When it's done, the bridge will link eastern Lincoln with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Downtown Campus.
