A 17-year-old has been charged with unlawful disposal of human remains after a stillborn baby was found in a York landfill.
Kaitlyn Smith appeared Friday in York County Court, where she's charged as an adult. She waived her right to a preliminary hearing and was ordered back to court on June 1 to enter her plea.
If convicted, Smith faces up to five years in prison.
Court records say the teen gave birth to a stillborn girl on Jan. 26. She put the body in a trash bag and placed it in an outside trash receptacle.
