Woman Facing Child Abuse Charge Pleads Not Guilty

A Grand Island woman facing a child abuse charge in the death of her 7-week-old baby has pleaded not guilty.

A Grand Island woman facing a child abuse charge in the death of her 7-week-old baby has pleaded not guilty.

Tiffany Bohlen appeared in Hall County District Court on Tuesday.

Authorities said Bohlen's infant daughter, Caitlynne, died of suffocation in February 2008.

Bohlen's boyfriend at the time, Christopher Klein, has been sentenced in the case to 5 to 7 years in prison after pleading no contest to manslaughter. Authorities said Klein placed a pacifier in Caitlynne's mouth, wrapped a blanket around her head and used a pillow to squeeze her against the side of her bassinet.

Klein said he learned the technique from Bohlen.

Bohlen was originally charged with manslaughter, but charges were dropped due to lack of evidence.
