Oh - so close! In what could have been the biggest win of Coach Callahan's Nebraska career, the Huskers fell short against the #5-ranked Longhorns with a final score of 22-20.
Ryan Bailey's first collegiate field goal, a 22-yarder with 23 seconds left and snow flurries falling, lifted fifth-ranked Texas to a 22-to-20 road victory over #17 Nebraska.
With the Cornhuskers on the verge of pulling the upset, Texas caught a huge break when receiver Terrence Nunn fumbled and Marcus Griffin recovered at the Nebraska 44 with 2:17 left.
Texas coach Mack Brown turned to Bailey, a walk on, for the final kick after Greg Johnson missed two field goals and had an extra point blocked.
The win gets the Longhorns to 7-and-1 on the year and keeps their national title hopes alive. Texas improves to 4-and-0 in Big 12 play.
Nebraska drops to 6-and-2, including 3-and-1 in the conference.
