The former president of Peru State College has agreed to pay $1,200 to the state for failing to disclose sources of income, including a foundation that gave him a six-figure deferred-compensation package.

The settlement was approved by the Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission on Friday.

Ben Johnson, who retired in August, agreed in the settlement that the commission would have found he violated the law by not reporting both Peru State College and a private foundation as sources of income.

Common Cause Nebraska filed the complaint late last year.

The compensation package from the Peru State College Foundation was worth more than $450,000.
