A 32-year-old Wood River man is dead following a head-on collision on Interstate 80 near Lexington.
Authorities say Michael Packer was driving west on I-80 in a pickup truck when he crossed the median and hit an eastbound semitrailer Monday morning.
The 44-year-old driver of the semitrailer was taken by medical helicopter to a Kearney hospital. Hospital officials said late Monday that Bobby Davis of Arlington, Texas, was in critical condition.
Interstate traffic was redirected to U.S. Highway 30 for several hours while the Nebraska State Patrol investigated.
