Grand Island Officer Dave Sullivan's three-day camping stint on top of the local Wal-Mart has paid off.
Sullivan began staying on the roof at 5:30 a.m. Friday morning and did not come down until 8 p.m. Sunday night.
The "Cop on Top" event raised $9,577 for the Nebraska Special Olympics. That beat the goal of $7,000.
The fund-raiser was part of the Nebraska Law Enforcement Torch Run, a yearly event in which officers volunteer to run with a torch to raise awareness and money for Special Olympics athletes.
