There was heightened security Thursday at the Sandy Creek elementary and high school, near Fairfield.
Clay County Sheriff Jeff Franklin said rumors had surfaced about a shooting being planned at the school.
He said those rumors were never confirmed, but extra precautions were taken with added law enforcement presence. He said there were no incidents.
Since it was the last day for the school-year, classes were dismissed early at Sandy Creek, as originally scheduled, at 11:15 a.m.
