While most choose to relax during the holiday weekend, one group plays hard for a good cause.
Twenty-nine people from eleven states are gathering in Utica this Memorial Day weekend to attempt shattering the longest Ultimate Disc Marathon Game Guinness World Record. Ultimate Disc is played with a frisbee and is similar to football, soccer and basketball.
The group started the marathon Friday morning at 7:00, and plans to continue playing the game continuously until 3:00 Monday afternoon. They've split into two groups, and are playing in eight hour shifts. Each game gets a ten minute halftime, and there's a ten minute break between games. Other than that, there is no stopping.
Along with trying to break the Guiness World Record, the event is also raising money for Seward County CASA, an organization that advocates for abused and neglected kids in the court system.
