The 10-11 Can Care-A-Van continued it's roll through Nebraska Tuesday to help stock local food pantrys.
10-11's Serese Cole traveled to Fairbury and Pawnee City.
In Fairbury, the Blue Valley Community Action Partnership reached its goal within the first half-hour.
Here were some of the biggest donors:
The Jefferson Community Health Center donated 1,840 pounds of food; Heritage Care Center donated 964 pounds; Saint Michaels Catholic donated 469 pounds of food; The Rotary Club and Kiwanis both donated $400; Grace Lutheran donated 309 pounds of food; Wal-Mart associates donated 325 pounds of food; Presbyterian Church donated 300 pounds of food and Fairbury Iron and Metal donated $100.00.
Folks in Pawnee City battled the cool temperatures to donate Tuesday. The USDA Service Center in Pawnee City challenged the USDA Service Center in Fairbury - and came out on top with 306-pounds of donated food. The Zion Lutheran Church Vacation Bible School donated 150 pounds. And the community of Steinauer contributed 375-dollars to the drive.
Here's a look at Tuesday's totals:
Fairbury was hoping to collect 4,000 pounds of food. The community more than doubled that with 10, 550 pounds.
Pawnee city beat its goal and collected more than 4,000 pounds of food. So as of Tuesday, the grand total is nearly 40-thousand pounds of food!
The Entire Community of Pawnee County was given the Can Care-A-Van Spirit Award Tuesday.
Darlene Jones, of Fairbury, was also presented the award.
