All week long, 10/11 is teaming up with area food pantries for a series of food drives. Brad Anderson went on the road for Wednesday's Can Care-A-Van in Aurora and Fullerton.

In Aurora, Superfoods donated 538 pounds and the town of Hordville gave 442 pounds of food. Giltner collected 280 pounds. Hamilton County equipment gave a total of 1,000 pounds and the postal carriers collected 1,444 pounds during their food drive. The Spirit Award winner is St. John's Lutheran church at Kronborg.

In Fullerton, First National Insurance Agency gave 200 pounds as did First National Bank, and the Nance County Courthouse employees gathered 186 pounds. Other big donors were Fullerton National Bank and Len and Joe's Market. The Spirit Award winner is Ruth Bisel.

"We've had several new people that we've never seen come to the food pantry before," says Jennifer Wood with Fullerton's Food Pantry. "It seems like more families have come this year than in the past. As far as needs go, you know, we've been through a lot of cereal with families that have children. Canned meat, fruit, juice, dry pasta, things like that are our most needed items. Also personal care items, things people don't think of to donate to the food pantry like toiletries, things like that."

Every community in Hamilton County contributed to the Aurora Food Pantry, and Patrick Clark with the Aurora Mall broke a record, as the largest single entity contribution in 22 years, by giving 5,774 pounds of food alone. In all, nearly 20-thousand pounds of food was collected in Aurora. 10,000 pounds was the goal.

The pantry in Fullerton was hoping to collect 1,300 pounds and they more than tripled the goal by bringing in 4,150 pounds of food. That brings the grand total for the week thus far to more than 63-thousand pounds.
