Overnight robberies at the Interstate Holiday Inn and Git N Split convenience store in Grand Island are very similar, according to authorities.

A robber hit the Holiday Inn at 2:00 a.m. Tuesday. Chief Deputy Chris Rea with the Hall County Sheriff's Department says a man with a sawed-off shotgun demanded money from a desk clerk, told the clerk not to call police, and left with an unknown amount of money.

The suspect is described as a man, 5'6"-5'8" with a thin build. He was dressed in all black, including gloves.

Rea believes the Holiday Inn robbery is connected to a similar crime at the Git N Split, at 3320 Langenheader Drive in Grand Island.

Grand Island Police Officer Roger Philbeck says a man armed with a gun entered that store around 3:15 a.m. Officer Philbeck says the man demanded money from the clerk, told her to lay down, and left with an unknown amount of money.

The suspect in that robbery is described as a white male, 5'11", 200 lbs., dressed in all black, wearing sunglasses and a black mask.

Both agencies are reviewing surveillance video.

Tuesday's robberies are the fourth and fifth in recent days, and the crimes share some similarities in method and suspect description.

The Dollar General store on Broadwell was robbed May 21.

The Pump & Pantry at 821 South Webb Road was robbed June 1. A witness described the suspect as a white male, around 5'6" tall, and around 140 to 150 pounds, wearing a black ski mask, dark sunglasses with silver rims, a black sweatshirt, and dark pants.

Grand Island Police are investigating a robbery at the Island Inn Motel Sunday night.

According to police, a man walked into the lobby around 9:30p.m. and demanded money.

Witnesses describe the man as 5'2" tall, thin build, wearing a black hoodie, black pants, black face mask, and black shoes, said Officer Philbeck.

The man was also reported carrying either a long gun or sawed off shot gun.

After taking an undisclosed amount of money, authorities say the man headed north from the motel.

Anyone with information should contact Grand Island Police or the Hall County Sheriff's Office.
