A suspect in 5 Grand Island area armed robberies is in custody.

The Grand Island Police Department and Hall County Sheriff's office arrested a man they believe is responsible for a series of armed robberies over the last 3 weeks.

According to a news release from GIPD, police officers arrested Anthony John Tunender at 2916 N. Webb Road at 10:36 a.m. Thursday. Tunender is currently being held in the Hall County Jail on numerous robbery and weapons charges.

Police say Tunender was living in Grand Island, but had no current address.

The investigation into these robberies is continuing.

According to police and sheriff's department officials, the suspect in each of the robberies wore black clothing, and carried a gun.

Dollar General - 2121 N. Broadwell on 5-21-09

Pump and Pantry - 821 S. Webb Rd. on 6-1-09

Island Inn – 2311 S. Locust on 6-7-09

Git n Split – 3320 Langenheder on 6-9-09

Interstate Holiday Inn – I-80 and 281 on 6-9-2009
