Five cyclists suffered apparent minor injuries in separate crashes Friday during the Bicycle Ride Across Nebraska.
The more than 600 riders encountered rain Friday afternoon as they biked a 78-mile stretch between Humboldt and Syracuse. According to Eunice Jalass, one of the BRAN organizers, wet conditions contributed to mishaps for three cyclists on some railroad tracks near Dunbar in Otoe County. Jalass said two other riders also lost control of their bicycles in a separate incident and were treated and released from local hospitals. None of the injuries were considered life threatening.
The BRAN event started Sunday in southwest Nebraska and has been continuing across the state this week, with a final destination of Chalco Hills, near Omaha.
