Photographers snapped several good photos of a tornado that touched down near the unincorporated village of Assumption, Neb. in Adams County. Officials say people in the area are lucky the tornado caused little damage.
According to Adams County Emergency Management Deputy Director Shelly Boden, two center pivots and a chicken coop were turned over near Roseland.
The tornado was spotted two miles north of Roseland traveling northeast, Boden said.
According to the National Weather Service, initial reports suggest the tornado was on the ground for 5 to 10 minutes beginning around 8:18 P.M. Radar observations depict the tornado actually moved very little during its lifespan, and primarily spun near Assumption.
Boden says no homes were damaged or injuries reported, but there was tree damage throughout Adams County.
Several photos are posted below, included some by Dan Heuertz that show the development of the tornado.
A storm chaser reported another brief tornado near Shelton around 8:30 p.m. that caused no damage, but the Weather Service hadn't confirmed that sighting.
