The annual Bike to Boyer ride in eastern Nebraska gets under way on Saturday.
The event includes a 26-, 46- or a 66-mile tour and a short eight-mile family ride. This year's rides will depart from the Fort Calhoun, and all will wind through some part of the Boyer Chute National Wildlife Refuge.
The ride is intended to raise awareness of the refuge while providing a fun outdoor experience. Money raised by the event will be used to replace the roof of the Meadowlark Education shelter at the refuge.
Participation in the event requires the use of an approved bicycle helmet.
