The holiday weekend is approaching, and this year there are some extra incentives to stay and celebrate in Lincoln.

The Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau is putting together a special Independence Day Vacation package to help out-of-towners and Lincoln residents enjoy activities, like this year's Uncle Sam Jam, at affordable rates.

"We felt it very important this year to put together some very affordable package opportunities on our website to give people a great place to stay, entertainment, as well as some potential certificates, money savings at local restaurants and shopping opportunities," said Jeff Maul, executive director of the Lincoln Convention and Visitor's Bureau.

The newest travel package is the Independence Day Weekend package with activities like the Uncle Sam Jam and Larry the Cable Guy's visit on July fourth. But you can also find package deals to enjoy a Lincoln Saltdogs game, or the Lincoln Children's Museum. Whatever your plans, Maul says you better book them quickly.

"I think this weekend will be an exceptionally busy weekend, I do know that there's five hotels in Lincoln that do show availability as of last night, so if you are looking to come into the community from out of state or if you're just looking in Lincoln to get out and do something fun this weekend, get over to our website," Maul said.
