Officials with the Bennet Rural Fire Department say a couple dozen pine trees caught fire Tuesday afternoon, after a firework a teen was playing with spun out of control.
Assistant Chief Gary King says a 13-year-old boy was lighting fireworks in his yard on Hackberry Street, when a firework spun on the ground and went in the air.
King says some grass started on fire and spread to a couple dozen pine trees. According to King, the fire which started around 2:30 p.m. took the Bennet Rural Fire Department roughly an hour to put out.
A deputy with the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office questioned the boy at his home, but no citations were issued.
