Two businesses are teaming up to bring jobs from China to Nebraska.

A ribbon cutting was held Wednesday in Central City.

Sunheat Zone Heating Products announced they'll move cabinet production from overseas back to Nebraska.

China may seem a long way from small town Nebraska, but they're competing for the same jobs.

This time, Nebraska won.

"They tell you that we can't compete at the local level here. We're doing exactly the opposite of what they say," said Wayne Williams, owner of Covenant Door and Millwork.

Covenant will make cabinets for Sunheat.

Those cabinets were once made in China, though the zone heating product company is located just 20 miles from their new Central City partner.

"The quality will be better, but more importantly we're bringing jobs back to Nebraska and America," said Ted Rookstool, owner of Sunheat.

"We are very competitive with the Chinese market out there," said Williams. "There's a lot of things you have to take into consideration when you're manufacturing overseas. It has to do with the delivery and quality, and both of those we assure directly here."

The collaboration shows just how strong Nebraska's economy is, according to Governor Dave Heineman.

He says, the state can and is competing in the global market.

"This is a very impressive operation. I saw how they're using technology to be more productive, more efficient, and that's how they can compete with companies all over the world," said Heineman. "Eight states in America last month reached record unemployment rates and here we are continuing to expand."

Heineman admits Nebraska is not immune to the economic slow-down.

People are already lining up to take the 30 new jobs.

"There's probably been over 100 applicants so far," said Williams.

He says they'll start interviewing in the next couple of weeks.

Sunheat and Covenant are also teaming up to make their product green.

For instance, a water-based stain is used for the cabinets.

Williams says going green also helps the company compete.

Do a story on how to buy one of these heaters. All products made here in Nebraska for that matter.

We all need to buy American. Make the company's that shipped our job overseas pay with no market for their jobs.

That is some good news. I hope other companies will follow. I'm going to have to get me an American heater!
