Larry the Cable Guy took the stage at Memorial Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Larry was known as Dan Whitney as a teenager growing up in Pawnee City and admitted he was a little nervous to perform Saturday night. He said he was trying to take it easy and treat it like any other show, but said performing in front of his home state and in Memorial Stadium isn't just another show.
The show was intended as a thank you for Nebraska football fans like himself.
Tickets to the show cost $4 a piece and Whitney says the event is essentailly a non-profit show. He says he'll merely break even by the end of the night.

Yep, this one is for you....guess what????...Not everyone likes the Huskers...Not everyone spends all that money every game to sit and watch a bunch of college kids play ball..Might I add that the fireworks show doesn't even compare at all in cost to the amount we pay the coach...FOR COLLEGE BALL...How stupid did you just sound!!!
Oh gosh oh gosh! The huskers are playing a football game on Halloween! That means they must be moving that holiday to! What are we to do???? To all of you boo-hooing about the fireworks do you now realize how stupid you sound?
I don't care who it was that was coming to Lincoln, you just don't change a major holiday to make it work for a group. IT ISthe 4TH OF JULY not the 3rd of JULY
Ugh! Please stop allowing post IN ALL CAPS!
I had a great time at the show despite the few sprinkles! I think we need more entertainment like that at Memorial Stadium! Thanks for a great show Larry!!
LOOK IT NOT THAT I DON'T LIKE LARRY THE CABLE GUY,OR THE 4TH OF JULY FIRE WORKS I THINK MOST OF THE PROBLEM IS IN PEOPLE WORKING.SOME EMPLOYEES DIDN'T SEE JULY 3RD A HOLIDAY AND THEY HAD TO WORK AND MISS THE FIRE WORKS.BUT AS IT WORKED OUT IT RAINED AND A LOT OF THINGS WERE CANCELED.BUT ITS NOT THAT LARRY THE CABLE GUY WASN'T WORTH CHANGING THINGS AROUND FOR HIM I THINK IT WAS MORE OF THE HOW PEOPLES EMPLOYERS LOOKED AT THINGS AND SO ONE WORKING 3-11 SHIFT MISSES THE FIRE WORKS. SO I DON'T THINK PEOPLE HAVE TO BE SO NASTY ABOUT THINGS BECAUSE THERE IS ALWAYS TWO SIDES TO EVERYTHING THANK
I didnt get to go. I had to work, but those whining about those fire works.... Please... 20 minutes of Oooo.. when Larry actually donates to a lotta different causes. Do your research before you complain about your fireworks. Its the same stuff every year anyway...
Thank you Larry the cable guy and the other two commedians for an evening of endless laughs. It was a show we'll never forget. Thank you, thank you!!!
Awesome performance. Thanks for the fun . Great way to spend the 4th of July.
Was a great show.
Donated money for veterans to take the Honor Flight trip, gave (basically) a free show to 10,000 or so from his home state........bet it doesn't take too long for people to start whining about the fireworks again.
