A crash between two semi trucks closed the westbound lanes of Interstate-80, near the Waco interchange for about two hours late Wednesday morning and early Wednesday afternoon. However, according to the Nebraska State Patrol, there were no life threatening injuries.
Patrol spokesperson Deb Collins said a semi, driven by 26-year old Mohamud Ridhwani of Olathe, Kansas slowed due to mechanical problems and was struck from behind by another semi around 11 a.m. The driver of the second semi, 42-year old Brian Isom of Topeka, Kansas and a passenger, 45-year old Robert Grimes of Pomona, Kansas were transported to York General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Westbound I-80 traffic between the Waco and York interchanges was re-routed until approximately two p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
