Early Education Grants Given to Several Nebraska Schools
The State Board of Education has approved more than $1 million for six new or expanded early childhood education programs, including Lincoln Public Schools and Grand Island Public Schools.

The State Board of Education has approved more than $1 million for six new or expanded early childhood education programs.
The grants will allow Nebraska schools to create programs for about 260 at-risk 3- and 4-year-olds.
These grants are intended to improve educational equity across Nebraska by providing increased access to early childhood education pre-kindergarten programs.
The grants approved last month go to:
--Diller-Odell Public Schools, $125,000;
--Educational Service Unit 5 for Deshler Public Schools and Thayer Central Schools, $250,000;
--Gibbon Public Schools, $75,000;
--Grand Island Public Schools, $375,000;
--Lincoln Public Schools, $186,000;
--And Wilber-Clatonia Public Schools, $75,000.

At-risk is a term used to define individuals of low ses, that are more susceptible to lower academic achievement and problems with behavior and truancy. In no way is this a program trying to rip you off and be another daycare. I'm assuming you're a fiscal conservative if you're worrying about money in general, and not money going to places it should and shouldn't. Money for education is probably one of the most important venues it can be allotted to. Trust me, it's needed.

get a hold of them as early as you can. that's the plan! come on people, isn't kindergarten soon enough to turn them over to the govt.

At Risk? At risk of what, parental neglect? Call pre-school what it is, backdoor taxpayer-funded daycare.
