A visiting professor to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln pleads innocent to attempted first-degree sexual assault and first-degree false imprisonment involving a student.
41-year-old Debasis Chaudhuri was in Lancaster County District Court for arraignment Wednesday morning.
The computer science professor from India was on a temporary teaching assignment at the Lincoln campus when he was accused of trying to sexually assault a student last month.
Court records say the female student told campus police she went to Chaudhuri's office October 9th to talk about grades, when he closed the door, pinned her down in a chair and fondled her while she tried to push him away.
Records also indicate Chaudhuri later told police he lost his mind for a few seconds and blamed the student because of the way she was dressed.
