Some severe thunderstorms early this morning knocked out power in some parts of southeast Nebraska, flooded streets, and scattered tree limbs across many areas.

Lincoln Electric System says 6 -thousand of it's 128-thousand customers were without power at some point, more than half of those homes were from 14th to 98th and Old Cheney to Saltillo, because of a lightning strike.

Sheriff Terry Wagner says nearby Denton was hit even harder. "Obviously lots of rain and hail, it looks like a lot of crop damage in those areas, and then a lot of damage to homes, just with shingles and siding has been blown off...so pretty pretty fierce storm as it blew through here," said Wagner.

The village of Hallam also reports the lid was knocked off of their water tower and officials are asking residents to boil their water.

The pictures below show some storm damage, including a tree limb that fell through the home of Corey Bolton in Pleasant Dale.

Ya we have a lot of tree damage here. Wind was really scary at one point. Just glad nobody was hurt from this storm.

Thanks LES for restoring power quickly, but question why was LPD just sitting in their cars this morning instead of directing traffic at those busy intersections? Were they waiting for an accident to happen?
