Larry the Cable Guy made a stop in the Capital City Tuesday, donating $1 million to the Child Advocacy Center.

"On behalf of myself, and my wife, Cara, and the Git-R-Done Foundation, today, we wanted to show up and let everybody know that we're proud to donate $1 million," said Dan Whitney, more commonly known as Larry the Cable Guy.

A generous gift from a home-town celebrity.

A man who is helping 'Git-R-Done', with the donation going toward the Child Advocacy Center's "Building a Promise" campaign.

"My fans have been very good to me, and I want to be good to them. I want to do what I can, and so that's why we picked this. We thought it was a really good organization, and they do a lot of great work," said Larry.

In just eleven years, the Child Advocacy Center has helped more than 4,600 child victims of abuse.

Each month, the center sees more than double the amount their tiny home was originally intended to help.

Because of that, blueprints have been created, and a campaign has begun, looking to raise $2.5 million to build a new facility.

"We just wanted this to help them kick-start what they're trying to do. We wanted to bring attention to them," said Larry. "We're looking to make a difference, because so many great things have happened to us."

"This community has been great for us, so we're giving back. We have a sense of community here. This is our home," said Cara Whitney, Larry's wife.

Besides giving back to their home-town community, Larry says helping kids, is better than being on stage.

"You hear the stories of these kids, and you want to be able to help them out with their campaign, so they can get a larger building and get more kids in there," said Larry.

"We're very happy to do it, and happy to be a part of it, so thanks a lot, and Git-R-Done," said Larry.

This is the first official gift from the recently created Git-R-Done Foundation.

The $1 million gift brings the campaign within $250,000 of their $2.5 million goal.

Larry and Cara Whitney are amazing people! What they are doing for the Child Advocacy Center will help the community for years to come. After seeing them at the press conference, which was very touching, I know they are angels helping out the kids that come through the CAC doors.
