A northeast Nebraska man was arrested after a five-hour standoff with officers.
The Nebraska State Patrol says Cedar County deputies were called to a disturbance at a home southeast of Coleridge a little after 9 Wednesday night.
A boy who lived there had called for help for his mother. She got out about 9:30 p.m. and was later treated for minor injuries.
A patrol SWAT team negotiated with a suspect, who eventually left the residence and moved to a tree line nearby.
Negotiations failed, so troopers employed their police dog to help capture the man.
The patrol says 49-year-old Myron Dirks was arrested and taken to a hospital for treatment.
Dirks was jailed on suspicion of assault, use of a firearm and other violations.
