A Merna man is dead, after being involved in a car versus semi-trailer accident.

According to the Nebraska State Patrol, 24-year-old Jonathan Jacobsen of Merna was driving westbound on Route 2, east of Merna in Custer County, at 12:14 Friday morning.

Officials say Jacobsen was following a semi, driven by Caroline Klenczon of Arizona, when Jacobsen's car under-rode the semi, and became lodged underneath, and both vehicles caught fire.

NSP says the car was completely burned.

Restraints were used in the semi, but officials are not sure about the car.

The accident remains under investigation.
