State senators will be holding a hearing next month on minitrucks and other off-road vehicles to see whether they should be allowed on more roadways.
The hearing is set for Sept. 11 in Lincoln.
Sen. Mark Christensen of Imperial and two other senators have introduced legislation on the minitrucks.
More than a dozen states let minitrucks on at least some roads. Some Nebraska farmers have bought the minitrucks for field use.
Sen. Kent Rogert of Tekamah says minitrucks and other smaller vehicles could be used by small-town residents who need to reach farm fields.
And he says elderly people who can't get in and out of cars could take advantage of golf carts or four-wheel ATVs with roll cages, bench seats and steering wheels.
