The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is looking to fill what one professor calls a huge hole in the curriculum.
This spring, students will have the chance to take a course on the history of terrorism. The course will examine the reasons behind September eleventh, the Oklahoma City bombing and groups such as Sinn Fein and al-Qaida.
Next fall, an expert in Islam will begin teaching in the Department of Religious Studies.
History Professor James LeSueur will teach the history course. He says with an ROTC program sending kids to Iraq to fight, a knowledge of the MIddle East is imperitive.
Religious Studies Chairwoman Sidnie Crawford says the moves are a huge boost for the history and religious studies departments. She says it also benefits the university as a whole.
