Authorities are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a car north of Holdrege and killed over the weekend.
Phelps County Attorney Tim Hoeft says 35-year-old Matthew Henrikson of Kearney died early Sunday after he was hit while walking along U.S. Highway 183. The accident happened about 1 1/2 miles north of Holdrege.
Hoeft says Michelle Reiners of McCook struck Henrikson from behind, and she was ticketed for leaving the scene of an accident.
The Phelps County Sheriff's office and the Nebraska State Patrol are trying to determine what caused the accident.
