A Nebraska man who maintains he led investigators to his daughter's body only after they promised not to file felony charges against him has been released from jail.
Prosecutors say they don't have enough admissible evidence left in the Butler County case to prosecute 24-year-old Lucas Peterson because of appeals court rulings in the case.
Officials hope they'll win their pending appeal in a Seward County case because that would reinstate charges against Peterson of evidence tampering and child abuse resulting in death.
Peterson lived in Seward County at the time of his daughter's death, but the child's body was found in Butler County in April 2007.
Peterson remains free while the Seward County appeal is resolved.
