On particular donation made to the Community Humanitarian Resource Center in Grand Island has made a significant impact on one woman's life.
Before the donation, Ashley Mills was a homeless mother of two trying to get back on her feet in life. She says it was hard to keep a job with no transportation.
Now, Mills is using the Buick Park Avenue to take her young children to daycare and driving to her job in Dannebrog. She has also found housing.
As executive director of the center, Cindi Preisendorf says an individual donated the car after taking in a sermon at a Catholic church.
The only stipulation put on the donation was that it go to an area family. Preisendorf says Mills was selected because she was the most deserving. She also had saved enough money for insurance and registration.
